ACT SAINTLY SAINT 3

This day we want to look at the implication of choosing not to act saintly despite the provision of heaven to individual life.

I once read in a book written by one of our fathers in the faith about the love of Christ that is shed abroad in our hearts. He wrote that this love of Christ is shed abroad in our hearts even though some may choose to hide it like the servant with one talent, that notwithstanding, the love is there.

I felt that expression is incomplete and very dangerous for every reader. This is because it could make men say things like "Don't be deceived by my outward appearance or the life I am living, salvation is the matter of the heart. I know I am born again, it's between me and God". That is like a lamp that speaks in darkness saying "Don't think because you can not see anything I am not shining, my light in within me". That's ridiculous. The destiny of a lamp is to shine bringing illumination to people thereby dispelling darkness and the destiny of a believer is to live saintly thereby proving God's love to the world and enforcing righteousness by life.

The man quoted to have hid his talent was called wicked, slothful and unprofitable by his lord. He was eventually bound hands and feet and thrown into the outer darkness where weeping and gnashing of teeth shall be. Matt. 25:14-30.

To choose to act or not act saintly is absolutely ours as believers but the consequence of our choices are predetermined.

O Comrade, don't wait until the end trying to find out for yourself what the end of that parable could mean to us as believers. Arise and act saintly, and the grace of God will ever be sufficient for you.

May we not lose out in the end because of our wrong choices.

Shalom.
