In 1Sam. 30, David experienced a great set back; he and his men lost all they had to invaders. The whole of their belongings: living and non-living alike. They wept for their losses until there was no more strength in them to weep. As the leader, everyone blamed him for their misfortune. Not only was he blamed, they even contemplated making him pay for their losses with his own life. But in the midst of all these, in verse 6, the bible says "David encouraged himself in the Lord".
What are your challenges O Comrade? What are you going through at this time that is shaking you? What are those things making you cry secretly? Are you even being blamed for what you know isn't your fault? Are close associates deserting you or even castigating you? People who don't know much may have risen to criticize you. Is your choice to follow God all the way making you look like a fool among your people? Be encouraged.
As for David, he found strength to encourage himself in the Lord. Guess what ended that story, verse 18 established that "David recovered all".
O Comrade, don't lose hope. Receive strength for self encouragement in Jesus' name.
Be encouraged and the power of God that recovers all shall work with you also and you shall recover every lost virture, every lost glory, and all you have ever lost in Jesus' name.
Shalom
