"Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. Becareful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world. 1 Peter 2:11-12 NLT
No matter who we grow to become amongst men on earth, it can neither make us live forever in it nor can it make this world eternal.
There's a way the world deceives people, giving them false comfort and in no time, men forget the world and all that are in it are not permanent.
O Comrade, let us keep away from worldly desires, fixing our gaze on things above and not things beneath. Let's live with the understanding that we are temporal residents and foreigners on earth and that at any given time, our Master will appear.
Men can't see God. But our life among men ought to prove God is real and our comportment in this world should show men the characteristics of our father if so be that God is truly our father. We must be able to tell men in the world, "if you have seen me, you have seen the father" just as Christ demonstrated it among men. Our lives shouldn't bring any reproach to the name of the Lord.
May the Lord find us watching when He shall return. Luke 12:37.
Shalom.
