"This was because Ezra had determined to study and obey the Law of the lord and to teach those decrees and regulations to the people of Israel." Ezra 7:10 NLT
Ezra was a priest and a scribe whom the Lord God of Israel used mightily in his days to bring spiritual revival upon returnee Israelites. He was an agent of revival in his days. But he possessed some attributes that made him effective and impactful:
1. He first of all set his heart to seek the law of the Lord. This means he sedulously sought to know the will of God for Israel. He committed himself to study of the law
2. He made up his mind not only to know the law of the Lord but also to obey it. He lived by the known law; living out in obedience to the will of the Lord that he has known; and
3. He taught Israel to do what he himself does; obeying the law of the Lord. The whole Israel caught the fire, genuine repentance was evident.
This attribute was also found in our Lord Jesus as it was written "what Jesus began to DO and to TEACH". He was first of all a doer before becoming a teacher.
O comrade, as good as zeal to teach is, it is better to wait on the Lord; seeking to know the will of the Lord; knowing the will of the Lord per time and walking in it and then teach men. This is important if you will make any meaning and enduring impact. Know the Lord and His will before teaching men about him. Don't give what you don't have else you will soon be in the negative.
May the Lord grant us the grace to know Him and His will more daily so as to be better impactful.
I feel this message today is not for all but specific persons. It is well with us all.
Shalom
