Sometimes when we hear messages on the finished work of Christ well, maybe because of the way preachers present them, it makes it look like we're only to have faith and need not to be responsible for anything. But that is not the wholesome word of God. Everything God does on earth, He has chosen to do it in conjunction with man; He has finished His own part in Christ and for His very purpose to be executed, man MUST take responsibility of DOING his own part too.
We're saved to DO somethings the Father has preordained before we were saved at all. These things are termed "Good works".
For to DO these GOOD WORKS God brought salvation to humanity, gave us the Holy Spirit to dwell in us enabling us from within, supply us with grace everyday, gave us both the logos and the daily rhema etc.
O comrade, if with all of these investments in our lives, men who do not have the Holy Spirit residing in them but have there souls merely trained by learning some Dos and Don'ts exhibit goodness more than us then, our salvation is questionable.
"LET your light so shine BEFORE MEN, that they may SEE your GOOD WORKS, and GLORIFY your Father which is in heaven."
