"Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also." John 15:20
Why have we grown diplomatic in our approach to matters in this world? Why have many preferred to sit in the pew all their lives rather than go out for evangelism to reach the perishing souls with the gospel? Why do many live "officially" in their place of work and don't want to identify with Christ? Why is it hard to say and stand by the truth these days? Is it not in order to avoid persecution?
O comrade, note that persecution is not a result of lawlessness; you don't claim to be persecuted when you are punished for lawlessness but when you're denied some rights, benefits, privileges or when sacked or even physically assaulted for living the Christian life; for standing for righteousness or because you do not drop your faith in Christ then, rejoice for that is a sign that you truly belong to Christ.
Stop avoiding persecution, it will only make you deny Christ rather, take it with joy knowing that these light afflictions we're faced with here cannot be compare at all with the glory that shall be revealed in us.
Be encouraged.
May we not fail our tests in Jesus' name
Shalom.
